“Photography meets feminism” exhibition, Ruth Maddison

MAPgroup photographer Ruth Maddison’s work is included in “Photography meets feminism: Australian women photographers 1970s–80s.” This exhibition examines the ways that photography assisted women’s liberation and feminism, to the extent that photography became a vital tool for social and political reform. It also considers developments in photography introduced by feminist photographers – material and technical innovations that have had a significant impact on contemporary photographic practice in Australia. On at Newcastle Art Gallery until 26 April.
