Bowness Photography Prize finalist & Nillumbik Prize, Silvi Glattauer

Another big congratulations, this time to MAPgroup photographer Silvi Glattauer for being a finalist in the Bowness Photography Prize. The exhibition opens 25 September at Monash Gallery of Art and runs until 22 November: http://www.mga.org.au/bowness-prize/2015-info

The same photograph was also entered into the Nillumbik Prize and won the People’s Choice Award.

Artist statement: A personal narrative of identity that pendulates between Australia and South America. I am drawn to these elusive Altiplanic landscapes as abstract topographical storyboards that read like textural braille. The aesthetic hyper reality that is often associated with classical landscape photography is replaced here with a ‘visual text’.
