Late in 2015, MAPgroup photographer Rodney Dekker travelled to the highlands of Papua New Guinea for Oxfam to photograph the ongoing and crippling El Nino drought. He found communities struggling to cope. Crops have failed, water reserves are dwindling and some children are malnourished. Aid groups and the government are providing drought relief and recent rains have eased the situation, but the effects still linger on. People have died from malnutrition and disease as food is still in short supply and people are drinking contaminated water. An article with images was recently published in Mindfood Magazine.
