Our first exhibition for the year, The Film Project is launching soon at The Fox Darkroom & Gallery– we hope you will join us for the opening on Thursday 9 March, 6-9.
We’re also running some associated events, where you can find out more about the process, directly from the photographers.
For this project, we returned to traditional analogue techniques to photograph the most personal of subjects- the portrait. Each photo has been hand printed by the artist, some whom had not been in a darkroom for a decade, but all embraced the tactile process of silver gelatine printing. In a world where nothing is too hard to change in Photoshop, these images strive for an authenticity that says as much about the photographer as their subjects.
