Australian Geographic article, Annette Ruzicka

MAPgroup photographer Annette Ruzicka has a new short about the plight of the misunderstood but critical native species, the grey headed flying fox. Recent mega-fires have wiped out habitat and food sources for them amid fears are they about to enter a mass starvation event. These species are not only important for the pollination of our forests, but also are emblematic of the canary in the coalmine when it comes to climate change. They seem to be hit hardest when it comes to heatwaves, fires and habitat loss.
